California Contractor Compliance Forms & Posters

California contractor compliance is not a single poster list. A contractor may need federal workplace posters, California labor notices, Cal/OSHA postings, IWC wage orders, workers’ compensation notices, public works records, certified payroll forms, apprenticeship forms, and project-specific documents depending on the work being performed.

The point of this page is to help you walk through the file instead of hunting through agency websites one document at a time.

If you only need one form, use the viewer links below.

If you are opening multiple posters, notices, wage orders, and project forms, it may be easier to get the California Compliance Pack and stop building the file one document at a time.

1. Start with baseline federal posters

These are common federal starting points. Use the viewer links first, then verify whether each poster applies to your company.

3. California EDD, workers’ compensation, and employee notices

These documents are often missed because they do not always feel like “posters.” They still belong in the compliance review.

4. Choose the right IWC wage order

This is where many California compliance files get messy. Field crews, office employees, drivers, shop employees, warehouse employees, and mixed operations may not all fall under the same wage order.

This is where the full pack starts to make sense.

If you are checking more than one wage order, you are probably building a real compliance file — not just downloading one poster.

Common California contractor compliance mistakes

  • Assuming federal posters are enough in California
  • Posting the wrong IWC wage order
  • Using one wage order for every employee group without review
  • Adding DSA or Caltrans forms to every packet without explaining when they apply
  • Missing EDD, workers’ compensation, or leave-related notices
  • Waiting until an inspection, claim, audit, payroll issue, or project review before organizing records

Best next step

If you only need one document, use the viewer links. If you are building a real California jobsite or company compliance file, the full pack is the more practical path.
